Game Description:
Graphic Simulations Corporation's latest release F/A-18 Hornet v 2.01 is perhaps the MOST popular flight simulation ever created for the Macintosh. This game includes incredible graphics and stunning views from just about any vantage point. Flight Sim enthusiasts can play head-to-head (up to 4 players per arena in local area network play) in their F/A-18 Hornet in 9 playing areas
F/A-18 Hornet includes the ability to CHAT while flying, which helps tremendously when networking over IPRemote. In addition, this game allows YOU to select whatever weapons you wish from a long list of earthshaking missiles and bombs.
In a word, F/A-18 Hornet offers a fast paced flight simulation that is a new experience each time you play it!
Look for future releases from Graphic Simulations Corporation!!
This game offers networking using Appletalk protocol. This can be accomplished in a local area network, Apple Remote Access and IPRemote (via Internet connection).
Local Area Network- 9 playing areas, 4 pilots per area. Total 32 concurrent players.
IPRemote Network- 9 playing areas, 2 per area. If more than 2 pilots enter an area, one or more of the players will not see the others.
Cross Platform- Mac only version available at this time.
Rules of Play on Sim-Net Network:
There is 100ft. hard deck and no ceiling limits in this game.
Weapons may be loaded with one of the two following optional rules:
1. GUNS ONLY (No missiles are loaded)
Fly-by required. (A "Fly-By" is where two planes must pass prior to engaging in battle)
2. GUNS AND TWO MISSILES of CHOICE.
No fly-by required. (You may fire on your oponent at any time)
First Pilot to DIE loses. If you are able to land anywhere safely, you can restart automatically and fly again. Loss of a plane does not count as a loss of a match.
Setting up a Network Game:
Once you have found an opponent in the Sim-Net chat rooms AND connected to the Sim-Net IPRemote Server, start your F/A-18 Hornet game. Be sure to decide on WHICH playing area (Rooms 1-9) you will be using for your match (we most commonly use Guns and Missiles for Tournaments) AND decide WHICH player is GOING to be HOSTING and which player is going to JOIN!
When the game has stated, use the MISSION menu and select NETWORK JOIN or HOST as decided on prior to the game.
Use your radar to VIEW THE ENEMY AIRCRAFT. Find him fast and fly by the rules of engagement listed above.
First one DEAD...loses!!! Good luck!
